The KRDA Andrew Wekesa Memorial Cup was launched in Nairobi , as an annual tournament to remember posthumously the fallen Kenya international rugby player, who played for Homeboyz RFC and Impala RFC
Present for the launch were Jason Leonard OBE, former World Cup winner & England RFU president, Dr Hassan Wario , cabinet secretary in-charge of sports , culture & arts, Stuart McGreevy, KRDA board of trustees chair, Myke Rabar – Chairman Homeboyz RFU and the family of Andrew Wekesa, led by the father
Homeboyz RFC already retired jersey no 18, in memory of Andrew Wekesa and to serve as indelible reminder of the memory of the moments he shared with his fellow team mates at Homeboyz.The cup tournament is aimed at spurring improvement of players welfare ,with the proceeds of the tournament to support his family and further the development of rugby talent in Kenya.
