Leon Lubanga played rugby at Highway Secondary School between 2005 -2008, finishing as the captain of the school team .In 2009, he joined KCB RFC under 20s and ESS league.

In 2010, he joined Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) rugby team, and led the team to win the East Africa University Rugby games. In 2012, he joined Homeboyz RFC where he has played the Kenya Cup to date. He also has featured for Kifaru in the Bamburi super series.

In 2016, he attained World Rugby Level 1 Coaching and Match Officiating certification, and has been a coach with KRDA since then.
